GRAND RAPIDS(WZZM) - A Grand Rapids family is flying the American flag upside down and some neighbors are not happy about it.

A viewer called the WZZM 13 Information Center, asking if there was anything that could be done.

The home is located near Fuller and Plainfield avenues on the city'snortheast side.

The family did not want to be identified, but told us the flag is upside down because our country is in "distress" and the United States Constitution is being threatened.

Neighbors say they are offended by the display. They say it is not appropriate to fly the flag upside-down in protest.

WZZM 13 looked up the rules for flag etiquette. According to the United States Code, Title 4, Chapter 1, and Section 8, the flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.
