MUSKEGON, Mich. (WZZM) -- Muskegon radio station WUVS-FM 103.7 the Beat held its 11th annual turkey giveaway Tuesday.
This year more than 20 Muskegon companies donated food items to go along with the $3,000 in frozen turkeys the station gave to its listeners.
"We just care," says radio station owner Paul Billings. "We see the need. During Thanksgiving time it is a very depressing time. If we can help families make it through Thanksgiving then maybe other organizations can help them in other weeks of the year. This is just one week. This is an on-going need here in Muskegon County."
There was enough food for more than 200 families. Many also received hats and gloves for the winter.
