GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM)- It's been un-seasonably warm this December and for some, it's not feeling much like Christmas.
"No, not at all. I want snow. Snow and colder weather, then it will feel like Christmas," says Stacy Greisinger. She and her husband Eric are walking around downtown Grand Rapids, without coats. Just across the street, the skating rink at Rosa Parks Circle is closed. Puddles sit on top of the ice.
"Uh, yeah, it feels more like spring right now," says Marc Moline, Marketing Manager at Cannonsburg Ski Area. The grounds are filled with puddles, instead of snow. The slopes typically open the first weekend in December. "We're just waiting for the weather to flip, so we can get the guns fired up and make some snow." The magic number is 28 degrees.
For business owner Bob Kingma, the snow can wait. His tree-business is ahead of schedule. "It's actually easier for people to pick them out in this weather. When it's cold and slushy, it's a chore."
"Ya know, it's Michigan. We never know what to predict. All we can do is be at Mother Nature's mercy," says Moline.
