GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- About two dozen protestors spent their lunch hour in front of Grand Rapids' Social Security office, demonstrating against recent cuts.
The government workers are disturbed about budget cuts they say have reduced office hours and diminished customer service.
Protestors say proposed cuts will only make things worse, adding to backlogs and limiting help for seniors, the disabled, and families that have lost a parent or spouse.
"We don't advocate to cutting anything," says Rosenda Rocha, president of the local American Federation of Government Employees. "We're advocating Congress pass the budget at the levels we need to take care of the folks we take care of."
Protests like this occured at Social Security offices across the country.
