GRANDVILLE, Mich. (WZZM) -- A group of Grandville elementary school students had close-up view of Thursday's protests against right-to-work legislation at the State Capitol.

Kim Shilton was one of the chaperones of her son's fourth grade class during a visit to the Capitol. Shilton's son, Liam, attends West Elementary in Grandville.

Shilton sent video to WZZM 13, showing the students receiving a lesson about the history of the Capitol building -- all while opponents of right-to-work legislation chanted while lining the balcony of the rotunda.

WZZM 13 is talking to Shilton and her son about their up-close civics lesson. We will hear from them on WZZM 13 News at 11 p.m.
