MUSKEGON, Mich. (WZZM) - A Muskegon road that often closes temporarily at this time of the year will soon be closed for several months.
The city has decided to shut down Beach Street until the spring. The decision has to do with the cost of removing sand from the road. Winter storms can blow a foot or more of sand onto the road in a matter of hours.
The road is one of Muskegon County's most scenic because it runs along Lake Michigan.
The city says the time public works employees spend clearning the road is better spent on other projects
