KENTWOOD, Michigan (WZZM) - A Kentwood woman was forced from her home early Friday morning by a fire.

At about 1:30 am, fire swept through a home located in the 4400 block of North Burry Court. It's a new subdivision in the area.

The woman was the only one home at the time. Firefighters say she woke up to the blaze and was able to get herself out safely.

Smoke spilled out from the roof of the home. Initial reports indicate the fire may have started on the second floor or the attic.

When firefighters arrived, they were able to get the fire under control relatively quickly. Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the fire.
