UPDATE: A Michigan woman's quest for love on the ABC reality series "The Bachelor" is over. Ashley Palenkas, 28, was one of 26 women competing for the love of Sean Lowe on this season of the show. However the Macomb Township woman, who appeared drunk on last night's debut, didn't make the first cut.

(Detroit Free Press) - Ashley Palenkas won't kiss and tell.

The 28-year-old from Macomb Township is one of 26 women competing for Dallas native Sean Lowe's love on the new season of "The Bachelor," which debuts tonight.

But bound by a contract with ABC, Ashley P. told the Free Press earlier today that we'll learn what happens between her and Lowe only by watching the show.

"Any girl that is into romance is drawn into the show," says Palenkas. "Being single, people kept saying to me that I should do it. Next thing you know ..."

Palenkas, a cosmetologist at Birmingham's Luigi Bruni Salon and bartender at Fifth Avenue in Royal Oak, says her coworkers and family members encouraged her in the spring to apply for the long-running reality series. And in September, she was in Los Angeles, hoping to score a rose with Lowe.

"No, no strategy," she says when it came to making a move on Lowe, the 29-year-old entrepreneur-fitness model-insurance salesman who landed this season's starring role after an unsuccessful courtship with Emily Maynard, the star of last season's edition of ABC's "The Bachelorette."

"This is something that's totally out of my comfort zone," Palenkas adds. "Most people don't try to meet their husband by going on a TV show. This is a completely different experience."

The 17th season of "The Bachelor" airs Mondays on WZZM 13.
