GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - While one group is working to restore the rapids in the Grand River, another plans to add a zipline across the Grand Rapids waterway.
According to zipthegrand.com, the 1,400 foot line would be the first of its kind in the state.
Jarl Breay and Jane Timmer came up with the idea and have been talking with the city about building an 800 foot zipline over the Grand River downtown. It would also include a ropes course.
Once adventurers get to the top of the ropes course they then attach themselves to the zipline and fly over the river. You'd get a return trip so you can get back to your car.
If approved, the $2,000,000 project would be open year-round, except for winter months. It is expected to cost $25 for several hours of fun.
Zip the Grand is meeting with state and local agencies before they can get the thumbs up. If approved, the company hopes to be up and running by ArtPrize2014
