BLUE LAKE TWP., Mich. (WZZM) - Two teen boys were injured Thursday morning when a car lost control on slippery roads and struck them as they walked along the shoulder.

The incident happened at about 7:00amalong White Lake Drive near Germania Road.

The 16 and 13 year olds were walking to their bus stop. Michigan State Police say that a woman driving eastbound on White Lake Drive lost control of her SUV and slid into the westbound lane and hit the boys who were walking on the shoulder. Her vehicle then struck a tree.

The mother of Travis Nelson, 13, tells WZZM that he has been taken to Helen DeVos Childrens' Hospital in Grand Rapids with internal injuries. He is alert and is speaking with doctors and family.

The condition of the 16-year-old is not known, but his injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.
