MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. (WZZM) - For nearly 25 years, Ralph Guiles of Muskegon Heights man has tried to find the owner of a high school class ring he found on a Lake Michigan beach near Montague.

"I didn't think it was much until I picked it up and saw it was a class ring," he says. "It's a Whitehall High School female ring, class of 1983 with the initials BMR on it."

Guiles contacted the school and learned the only girl in the class of 1983 with those initials is Barbara Reams. But they have no information about her location.

Guiles says he didn't graduate from high school until he entered the military. The 72-year-old retired career soldier didn't get to have a class ring, and that's why he's determined to find the owner of the lost ring he found.

"I just feel like it is something people always cherish," he explains. "I know what it would mean to me, so I hope we can find out who's it is."

If the ring belongs to Barbara Reams, she would be about 47 years old now.She may bemarried with a different name, making her harder to locate.

Guiles says he'd like her to have her ring this year in time for her 30th high school reunion.

"I have her class ring and I want to give it back," he says.
