CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) - Two local Special Olympians, one of whom won a gold and silver medal at the World Games in South Korea, are back in West Michigan.
Amy Kaptein won the 50-meter cross country skiing event and finished second in the 100-meter race. Damon Cassese finished fifth in the snowboarding competition.
Both of them were greeted by friends and family upon their return Friday night at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport.
"I just couldn't believe what I did. It's just so cool," said Amy Kaptein.
Damon Cassese shared a similar sentiment. "I was really, nervous excited, ready to go hyped up. It was really fun."
