HOLLAND, Mich. (WZZM) - Several liens have been filed against battery maker LG Chem from contractors that have not been fully paid.
The Allegan County Registrar of Deeds told WZZM 13 that Johnson Controls was seeking $14,600; Andy Egan was seeking $142,199 and Circuit Electric was seeking $107,712.
The liens were filed in the fall. That's when investigations began into why the company had failed to produce any batteries despite a significant investment of public dollars.
A spokesperson for Circuit Electric called LG Chem a "great job" valued at about $7 million. The spokesperson says some payments have been received since the fall and he's hopeful more will be received soon.
Andy Egan declined comment; the other companies could not be reached for comment.
