GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM)- Organizers of an Easter time tradition spanning two decades say this year's event was a success, after some last minute help from the community.
Up to 3,500 children searched for treats during Saturday morning's Easter Egg Hunt at John Ball Park. Friday night, organizers pleaded for candy donations after some sponsors pulled out. Organizers say the community came through, donating about 300 pounds of treats up until midnight.
"It's awesome. The generosity of the Grand Rapids community never ceases to amaze me," said organizer Bob Wallington.
Wallington says the big donors who saved the Easter egg hunt included D&W stores and the Gaslight Village.
