GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - Grand Rapids Police are looking for an armed gunman who robbed a convenience store late last night.

Just before midnight a gunman walked into the My Food Market in the 1200 block of Fuller NE near Leonard NE. Witnesses say the robber fired his weapon and walked away with an undisclosed amount of money.

One of the employees, sayS they were in the process of closing the store. There was one customer left inside and another cashier was counting the money drawer. Ten minutes before closing the gunman came in, fired one round into the register and demanded cash.

The witness, an employee, says the cashier threw the money on the counter, everyone got down on the floor. The suspect grabbed the money and ran off. Police set up a perimeter around the area when they arrived, but the suspect was able to escape.

There are surveillance cameras inside and outside the store. However, they may not help much in identifying the gunman. The suspect was wearing a ski mask, dark clothing and white sneakers.

No one was hurt in the robbery.
