GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - A first-of-its kind art exhibit is on display in Grand Rapids showcasing the works of dozens artists with disabilities.

The Action Art Gallery and Exhibition runs through the end of the week at non-profit, Artists Creating Together, located in downtown Grand Rapids.

32 artists submitted up to 3 pieces of unique artwork.

The program is designed to highlight the unique talent here in West Michigan and provide experience for the artists who have limited experience showing their work.

"They really don't have that opportunity to show their work or know how to begin talking to a gallery. How do you price your work? How do you get the public to buy your work so you can begin to make a living. That is additionally true for the artists we serve. They have additional barriers with communication and transportation and things like that," said Michele Suchovsky, Executive Director for Artists Creating Together.

Suchovsky says a panel will select three juried award winners to receive a cash prize of $500 and a place in the 2013 ArtPrize. The public will also vote on which artist will win a $100 cash prize.
