NORTON SHORES, Mich. (WZZM) -- Police questioned and released a man in connection with the alleged abduction of Jessica Heeringa.
The 25-year-old gas station clerk disappeared around 11 p.m. Friday from the Exxon gas station on Sternberg Road.
Around 6 p.m. Wednesday, police pulled over the driver of a silver minivan and brought him into the Norton Shores Police Department for questioning.
WZZM was the only media outlet on the scene when the driver was stopped near the intersection of Getty and Hume in Muskegon Heights.
WZZM 13's Phil Dawson reports the man, who is a registered sex offender, left the police station with investigators around 8 p.m. He was transported in an unmarked police vehicle without handcuffs.
Norton Shores Police Chief Daniel Shaw says the man was being questioned further "off site." He was not named as a suspect.
Shaw says investigators have been questioning people with vehicles that match or are similar to the vehicle believed involved in the Heeringa abduction.
