DRINK MILK FOR LIFE! JUMP WITH JILL LIVE TOUR HITS THE ROAD
The United Dairy Industry of Michigan and Meijer Team Up with Rock & Roll Nutrition Show to Reach High Need Schools Across Michigan
From March 4 - May 3, the State of Michigan will be rocking to the beat of The Drink Milk For Life Jump with Jill Live Tour. Together, the United Dairy Industry of Michigan (UDIM), the produce section at Meijer grocery stores, and the nation's only rock & roll nutrition show, Jump with Jill, are teaming up to bring songs about low fat milk and fresh vegetables to 50 high need schools across the State of Michigan. From Grand Rapids to the Upper Peninsula, this tour will reach 18,000 students grades K-6.
Jump with Jill was originally working through a federally-funded agency to bring this experience to high need Michigan schools. One month before the tour was scheduled to rock, Jump with Jill headquarters was informed the funding was dropped, effective immediately. Recognizing that high need schools need nutrition education but rarely have the budget, the Michigan-based UDIM and Meijer stepped up to serve their communities. Their engagement has also allowed Jump with Jill to increase their impact, allowing schools to receive comprehensive follow up materials including CDs, DVDs, posters, and much much more. To get even more local, this Michigan tour is proud to feature local talent: Detroit-native Hailey McDonell as "Jill" and Holland-native Devon Watson as "DJ." It just so happens that one of the schools on the tour roster is Devon's childhood elementary school.
About Jump with Jill:
Jump with Jill is a professional live show that travels the country transforming nutrition education into a rock & roll nutrition concert. Armed with catchy songs, upbeat dance moves, and a hip wardrobe, Jump with Jill uses the same tools normally used to sell junk food and keep kids sedentary into a powerful tool for teaching healthy habits.
Created by registered dietitian and musician Jill Jayne, the show leaves kids with eight take-away messages: respect your body; fuel your body with healthy food for the best energy; eat breakfast daily; eat vegetables to keep skin, hair, muscles, eyes, and bones healthy; choose naturally sweet fruit instead of candy; exercise regularly; drink water instead of sugary drinks; and get calcium from low fat dairy. Jill's interactive teaching style of these important topics not only makes eating breakfast and drinking water cool, but helps increase retention of these important health messages.
Jump with Jill has been performed over 1,000 times for more than 250,000 kids all over the United States and Europe and has been featured in national media outlets including Nickelodeon, Sprout PBS, NPR, and The Washington Post.
