Foot & Ankle Specialists of West Michigan Announces New Treatment for Acute & Chronic Heel Pain

Foot & Ankle Specialists of West Michigan will become the first Podiatric Facility in West Michigan to offer the newest method of non-invasive treatment of acute & chronic heel pain: Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Treatment (EPAT®).

Nearly one-in-four Americans suffer from bone or joint problems, including acute & chronic heel pain. The new D-Actor device with EPAT® technology promotes healing without surgery for acute& chronic heel pain and other disorders involving soft tissue and bone.

The most exciting thing about this innovative treatment method is that it can replace traditional treatment methods including surgery, significantly reducing recovery times and related healthcare costs by as much as 70% compared to other treatment methods. It is non-invasive, does not require anesthesia, has no significant side effects, and promotes tissue healing.

The D-Actor® system with EPAT® was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in July of 2008. EPAT® procedures typically require 3-5 treatments at weekly intervals and usually last about 5-10 minutes. Healing of injured tissue takes as little as six weeks and some patients report immediate pain relief.
