GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM)- Haitian Flag Day is officially celebrated on May 18, but there is one group here in West Michigan celebrating this weekend.

Sunday, at Grand Rapids West International Church of the Nazerene, the Haitian community of West Michigan will come together to eat, dance, sing, and celebrate 210 years of independence.

We had two organizers, Ian Swanson of West Michigan Center for Peacebuilding and Cathie Jean, a memberof the Church of the Nazerene in studio to talk about Sunday's event.

Today's event takes place at 2 p.m. at the church, located at 1313 Bristol NW in Grand Rapids.
