Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - The Minnesota Twins were looking to create someoffense after managing to record just one hit off Anibal Sanchez and theDetroit Tigers on Friday.
The Twins were able to do so, scoring three runs in the first inning andsnapping a 10-game losing streak with a 3-2 win over the Detroit Tigers in thethird of a four-game series at Comerica Park.
Joe Mauer, who broke up the potential no-hitter in the ninth inning on Friday,went 3-for-4 with a home run, while Justin Morneau and Chris Parmeleecontributed with an RBI apiece for the Twins.
Minnesota starter P.J. Walters (1-0), who made his season debut, allowed tworuns on eight hits and a walk in six innings. Glen Perkins pitched a scorelessninth to notch his ninth save.
Jhonny Peralta had a solo homer and Torii Hunter drove in one run for theTigers, who won the first two games of this series. Doug Fister (5-2) hadseven strikeouts and gave up three runs on eight hits and a walk over sevenframes.
