BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (The Enquirer) - Former Democratic Congressman Mark Schauer has announced his campaign to become Michigan's next governor.
Schauer released a statement on his official Twitter feed, @MarkSchauer, today.
"Today I'm announcing my campaign for governor," the message said. "I'm ready to run, I'm ready to work & I'm ready to win."
Schauer then directed readers to his website, markschauer.com. There, the phrase "Mark Schauer for Governor" and a link to donate to his campaign can be found.
Schauer served as the U.S. Congressman for Michigan's 7th District from 2009 to 2011, when he was defeated by Republican Tim Walberg. Schauer lives in Bedford Township.
Schauer, from Battle Creek, is the only announced candidate seeking to challenge Republican Gov. Rick Snyder, who took office in 2011 and is expected to seek a second term.
