GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- A two-year-old Grand Rapids boy suffered only minor injuries after falling from a second story window, but the incident is being investigated by Child Protective Services.

The woman who rents the house on Brown Street SE says the mother of the child is her cousin. She says that Monday night, the boy wandered upstairs and pushed a screen out of the second story window and fell.

When Grand Rapids Police arrived, they say the boy was alert and appeared to have only minor injuries.

The cousin says the safety features on the window had been broken by the previous renters.

"It just didn't have a string in the window so the landlord is on his way to put strings in the windows."

The child was treated and released from the hospital. The case has been forwarded to Child Protective Services.
