2 1/2 cups milk
2 egg yolks
1 cup sugar
Dash of salt
¼ cup cornstarch
1/2 tablespoon butter
½ tsp vanilla
Mix milk, egg yolks, sugar, salt, and cornstarch in medium pan. Cook on medium heat, stirring constantly until thick. Add butter, vanilla extracts. Pour filling into baked 9 inch pie crust and refrigerate for at least 3 hours.
Fresh Strawberry Glaze
1 ½ cups of fresh strawberries, sliced and mashed
¾ cup of sugar
½ cup of water
¼ cup of cornstarch
Orange zest
4 ½ cups fresh strawberries, sliced
Mix sliced and mashed strawberries, sugar, water, cornstarch and orange zest in medium pan on low to medium heat until thickened. Chill until cold. In large bowl, fresh strawberry slices with strawberry glaze, stirring until they are completely coated. Spoon on top of pie. Keep refrigerated. Best eaten on first day.
