GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Some local teens are cleaning up Grand Rapids neighborhoods.

Two organizations, Rental Property Owners Association and The Other Way Ministries have teamed up again to help provide summer jobs for teens.

The young people are hired to work part time doing yard work for properties that need it. The program is called the YES, or Youth Employment Service Program.

The goal is to spruce up neighborhoods and yards throughout the community.

Youth Employment Supervisor Dave Sarkipato said, "The supervisor came to me and said our mission is to better the neighborhood and better the morale any way possible and yard work is a big part of that."

The program hopes to not only improve the quality of Grand Rapids' neighborhoods, but to prepare the young employees for a brighter future.
