Who doesn't love a meal wrapped in foil and placed by the fire? It means a full belly and no dishes!

Chef Char Morse

Hobo Packet (for one)
2 large (One 12" long and one 18" long) sheets of foil
1 Tablespoon butter or olive oil
1 large cabbage leaf
1 potato, thinly sliced
1 carrot, thinly sliced
¼ cup peas
¼ cup corn
4 - 6 ounces hamburger
Salt and pepper to taste

Start with a cozy campfire or a hot grill.

In a gallon Ziploc bag, add one pound hamburger and one packet of onion soup mix and distribute throughout meat. The seasoned burger can be shared with other hobo packet makers.

Using the smaller sheet of foil, place a small amount of oil or butter to prevent food from sticking to foil. Place a large cabbage leaf on foil and build the Hobo Stew inside the leaf. (The cabbage leaf prevents the rest of the food from charring!) Layer the potato inside the cabbage leaf and top with the other vegetables. Add salt and pepper over vegetables to taste. Then top with 4 - 6 ounces of the seasoned burger. Add another cabbage leaf around the food, if necessary. Wrap the dinner in the smaller sheet of foil, making sure the packet has no holes where juice may escape. Using the larger sheet of foil, wrap the packet again, this time creating a handle on the packet for easier removal from the fire. Use tongs to place packet over hot coals or a hot grill. Allow hobo packet to cook for about 20 minutes (cooking time depends on the heat of the fire and amount of food in packet, so cooking times can vary greatly). Remove packet from fire with tongs and set aside to cool for a few minutes to avoid steam burns. Enjoy!

Campfire Cone

1 sugar cone, any brand
1 banana, peeled and sliced
½ cup strawberries, hulled and sliced
¼ cup mini marshmallows
¼ cup chocolate chips

Place cone on an 8 inch sheet of foil. Fill cone with banana, strawberries, marshmallows and chocolate chips. Wrap cone in foil and place on hot grill or hot coals for 5 minutes, turning once. Remove from heat with tongs and allow to cool for a minute or two before opening. Enjoy!
