GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (WZZM) -- Three colorful ship are docked in Grand Haven for the 89th annual Coast Guard Festival, now in full swing.
Every year the Mackinaw, Mobile Bay and Canadian ship Robinson V.C. meet at the mouth of the Grand River then parade into town. Sometime it's hot and sunny and there have been years the parade happens in heavy rain. But those who lined the channel Monday afternoon can't recall such a chilly Parade of Ships.
The temperature reached just the low 60s with a slight breeze from Lake Michigan making it feel even cooler; weather more akin to early October than late July.
Still crowds lines Grand Haven's boardwalk for the slow moving waterfront parade. All three ships are open for free tours until 8 p.m. this week.
