GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- A man, who police say robbed a downtown bank and tried toelude officersin a bathroom at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital, has admitted to the crime.

After his arrest, police say the man admitted to robbing the Chase Bank at 200 Ottawa Avenue around 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Police were told to be on the lookout for a thin white man with bad teeth, wearing a striped shirt.

Within one minute of the bank robbery, an officer spotted aman matching the description walking on Michigan Street near Bostrick Avenue NW. He fled intothe hospitaland was arrested in a lobby bathroom without incident.

A Spectrum Health spokesman say the man was unarmed and there was no disruption to patients or staff.

Investigators say the suspect has previously been charged for a 2006 Grand Rapids bank robbery.
