GRANT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- A helicopter pilot and passenger are recovering after crashing in Oceana County.
The 1972 Brantley two-seater went down around 4:53 p.m. Thursday behind a home at 7034 S. 104th Ave. in Grant Township.
Witnesses tell deputies the pilot, 30-year-old Gregory McCabe of Fruitport, was taking off but not able to clear the trees and turned back. The aircraft then lost lift and made a hard landing, rolling into its side while the blades were still turning.
McCabe suffered minor injuries, including a possible arm fracture. His passenger, 79-year-old Lester Korson of Rothbury, suffered a possible broken shoulder in the crash. Both men were taken to a Muskegon hospital for treatment.
The FAA is expected out Friday to investigate the crash.
