(WZZM)--You've heard of frequent flyer miles, but this week Rick Vuyst is teaching us about "frequent flower miles."
He has a way for you to enjoy flowers now in the late summer, early fall as well as next spring.
For starters, Vuyst recommends planting pansies. Many people don't realize their toughness. They tolerate the frost that we're about to start seeing and they will bloom again next spring.
Before you put your pansies in the ground, Rick recommends digging an extra deep trench and planting bulbs underneath them. He likes to use daffodil bulbs; it helps make his flowers less susceptible to deer damage, and come next spring they'll all bloom together for a beautiful look.
Tulips are also beautiful, but they attract deer similar to the pansies, so if you live in area with deer, that could be a problem.
