LUDINGTON, Mich. (WZZM) -- Spectrum Health is acquiring Ludington's Memorial Medical Center.

Leaders of both companies announced the deal Friday. As part of the agreement, Spectrum Health will provide $6 million for health care programs to benefit the Ludington community and invest $46 million in upgrades and recruiting physicians for MMC over the next ten years.

The President and CEO of Spectrum Health says the deal will also give Ludington area patients access to more services.

Under the contract terms, Spectrum Health will become the sole corporate member of MMC. If all legal documents are approved, the integration will take effect October 1.
