BRYON CENTER, Mich. (WZZM) - Byron Center-based Spartan Stores announced Tuesday morning the completion of its merger with Nash Finch Company of Minnesota.

The new company will be known as SpartanNash. The name change will become official at the annual shareholders meeting next May. A new SpartanNash website is already active with the new name, logo, and information on the merger - .

Shareholders for both companies approved the merger yesterday. Former Spartan Stores shareholders will own more than 57% of the new company and former Nash Finch shareholders will hold slightly more than 42%. Beginning today the common stock of SpartanNash will trade under the symbol "SPTN" .

Still no word on how the merger will affect current operations or where the new company headquarters might be.
