MARTIN, Mich. (WZZM) -- UPDATE: Kristy Lafountain the 16 year old missing from the Martin area is back with her family. She was found Friday evening in Kalamazoo by police, who treated her as a runaway and turned her over to her family.

Police are currently trying to determine if anyone knowingly aided her, after she left school Wednesday and didn't return home. Police say the investigations shows non of her classmates helped her runaway.

(WZZM) - Police are searching for a 16-year-old from the Martin Area. Kristy LaFountain did not return home from classes at Martin High School on December 11.

Her family has since heard from Kristy via Facebook and she says that she is safe, but "far away." The message said that Kristy would call her family but they have not heard from her.

She does not have a cell phone, car, or extra clothing with her.

Kristy is 5'2" tall and weights 110 pounds. She has shoulder-length strawberry-blonde hair and has braces on her teeth.
