GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Thousands of children in need will have something under the Christmas tree this year, thanks to West Michigan donors.

Thousands of toys were collected by schools, businesses, families and community members as part of the Toys for Tots campaign this year. The toys were trucked to distribution centers, where parents come to select gifts for their children.

Saturday, volunteers will help distribute those donations to families who cannot afford gifts this Christmas.

"It's very rewarding. There's a lot of work put into this by many many, many people behind the scenes; sorting the toys picking up the toys for months. A lot of meetings and plannings, so when its finally distribution day its just a very rewarding day," said volunteer Richard Reach.

Distribution will take place at John Knox Church on Kalamazoo Ave. and the Westside Complex on Straight Ave. Saturday morning.
