HOWARD CITY, Mich. (WZZM) --A 26-year-old Howard City man is under arrest in connection with the abuse of a 13-month-old child.
State Police Troopers from the Hart Post responded to Gerber Memorial Hospital in Fremont Saturday night, at the request of Child Protective Services to investigate serious injuries to the child.
The mother brought the child to the hospital after noticing injuries that occurred while the child was left in the care of her live-in boyfriend.
The child suffered three broken ribs, bruising to the head, face and abdomen. Doctors identified the injuries as being the result of abuse.
The suspect, the mother's live-in boyfriend, was arrested and charged with one count of child abuse in the first degree, and is in the Montcalm County Jail awaiting his arraignment. His name has not yet been released.
