GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- The city of Grand Rapids has already recieved numerous complaints about potholes, both online and on the city's mobile app.

"Our streets are in abysmal condition," says Mayor George Heartwell, who talked about the condition of the streets in his State of the City address over the weekend.

"We need to invest $22 million each year to bring our streets up to acceptable condition. Today, we invest $3.4 million and match another $3 million from grants."

Mayor Heartwell wants residents to tell their state legislators that they're fed up. He says funding for streets will also be part of a local ballot issue this May.
