Grand Rapids, MI-WZZM 13, the Gannett owned ABC affiliate in Grand Rapids Michigan is thrilled to learn that our very own Take Five and Company Associate Producer, Eddie Rucker has been named the 2014 William Glenn Trailblazer Honoree.
The 32nd annual Giant Awards have twelve (12) categories in addition to the "Giant Among Giants Award". Those who work diligently each year within the community are nominated. Individuals or organizations are recognized for exceptional efforts shaping the history and quality of life in the greater Grand Rapids area.
"I am honored to receive recognition as a Trailblazer", says Eddie Rucker. "I thank my nominator and the Giants' selection committee for affording me the opportunity to be a member with this extraordinary list of individuals."
The William Glenn Trailblazer honoree recognizes people who are the first, and leaders in their particular field. William Glenn was one the first African American workers at a Grand Rapids wartime production factory and was instrumental in getting all GR plants open to hiring African Americans.
"We at WZZM 13 congratulate Eddie for this very special honor", says Janet Mason, President and General Manager of WZZM 13. "Eddie's commitment to helping others in our communities is apparent and it is wonderful to see her recognized for it".
Rucker began her West Michigan broadcast career in radio. She has been with WZZM 13 since October, 2001 and is a graduate of Central Michigan University.
The 2014 Giant Awards Banquet is Saturday, January 25th at DeVos Place in downtown Grand Rapids. The "Giant Among Giants Award" winner will be announced at this event.
