GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) -- A man who secretly filmed the girl's dressing room at Ada Dance Studio was sentenced Thursday to prison.

Richard Schmeling will spend between three and five years in prison for setting up a smart phone to record images of an unclothed person.

The 28-year-old Grand Rapids man was not affiliated with Ada Dance Academy, but broke in to install the camera phone. The smart phone was found in the ceiling of the girl's changing room last March.

It was placed from a nearby utility closet not accessible from the academy. A recording of the girl's changing room was found on his phone, but it did not contain images of girl's changing.

As part of a plea agreement, prosecutors dropped three other charges, including using a computer to commit a crime.

Ada Dance Academy has since moved from a strip mall on Pettis Avenue NE to a new location on East Fulton Street.
