CALEDONIA (WZZM)-- Hydro Mousse Liquid Lawn is an "As Seen on TV" product that looks just like professional hydro-seeding you can use at home. The makers claim you can go from seed to sod just like the pros.

The Hydro Mousse liquid formula contains what they call an eco-friendly sticking solution that attaches the seed to the soil and a conditioner to loosen hard soil, allowing it to absorb more water. The product comes with that solution and grass seed, along with a container and nozzle that attaches to a garden hose. The commercial and demonstration video shows a thick green solution that sprays and sticks to your lawn.

Hydro Mousse is supposed to be perfect for dog marks, high traffic areas, and shaded areas. I took it to Chris Behm, who helps train a Paws with a Cause dog who, unfortunately, has burned several areas in his lawn. Chris used Hydro Mousse on several of those burn marks. We raked away dead grass and loosened the soil, then sprayed the Hydro Mousse on several spots.

We found it didn't come out spraying that bright green, foamy looking solution. It looked more watered down and when it sat on the patches of lawn, it didn't look green and fluffy like hydro-seed does, or like Hydro Mousse looked like in its commercial.

We used Hydro Mousse on several patches and came back after a couple of weeks. We found only a few blades of grass had sprouted. Maybe we needed to add more fill dirt, or prep the soil better, but overall, this stuff just did NOT work the way we had hoped.

Chris said he would more likely just try planting seed the old fashion way, by hand, and Hydro Mousse is NOT something he would buy.

We found Hydro Mousse online for $19.95 plus $7.95 for shipping and handling.
