HOLLAND, Mich. (WZZM) -- For a woman, it's one of the most special and memorable moments of her life when the man she loves proposes.

And that memory can now be captured and kept forever.

A team of engineers from Hope College created a special box for engagement rings as their senior project. Inside is a small camera to capture the moment when a woman says yes to marriage.

It started as a senior design project, at Hope College. The students say they spent a year coming up with different prototypes and asked a couple of friends who they knew were getting engaged if they wanted to try it out -- "and the videos that we got back were honestly incredible," says Scott Brandonisio.

"The box acts just like a USB drive; there's this little hidden micro-USB port right on the side, which means that any standard cell phone charger can plug into that. And it plugs right into your computer, it accesses USB, and you can move the file right over," Brandonisio said.

After the proposal, the gentleman sends it back.

"It's definitely one of the most important moments in a couple's relationship," Brandonisio said of a proposal. "And to be able to share that instantly with all your friends and family, and actually show them the moment and his or her actual reaction, the genuine surprise, and giddiness -- it's wonderful."

The creators of the Ring Cam just returned from pitching their idea to ABC's Shark Tank during an open-call audition. They say the response was positive, and now they are waiting to hear if they will appear on the show.

"Once you've proposed, we give you a box back and you put the [ring] box in it, stamped, and it comes right back to us. It's really fun when your online and some person that has no connection to you what so ever, friends or family, they rent a box online and go wow, your a complete stranger, I guess were a company now.
