GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) -- Kent County deputies warn of scammers trying to steal Social Security and credit card numbers.

Deputy Ryan Roe says someone is sending text messages claiming to represent a bank and asking people to call a certain number because of a security issue. When calling that number, people are prompted to enter Social Security and credit card numbers.

Authorities remind people not to respond to such scams and to call or visit their bank or credit union if they have any concerns about potential security issues.
