MONTCALM TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- Investigators have released a sketch of a man who police say tried to abduct a 15-year-old Greenville girl last week.

The Montcalm County Sheriff's Office says the attempted abduction happened around 3 p.m. Friday, near the intersection of Dickerson Lake Road and Greenville Road.

Authorities say the girl was walking home from school when a stranger kept driving past her and eventually stopped near her. He began by offering her a ride home, and after she refused, he ordered her into his car.

She ran into the woods and eventually made her way home, escaping any injury.

The suspicious car is described as a silver, mid-2000s Pontiac G6 with a sunroof. The driver is said to be a white man in his mid-20s to early 30s, with a brown, military-style haircut. He was wearing sunglasses and a red t-shirt.

Montcalm County authorities say the girl was likely not targeted, but rather a victim of opportunity. Investigators want anyone with information, or anyone with a similar experience, to call them at 989-831-5253. People can also call the tip line at (989) 831-7593.
