Saginaw, Mich. (WZZM) NBA legend Magic Johnson was in Michigan Tuesday night for a charity event in Mid-Michigan.
It was an opportunity for the media to ask Johnson about the penalties handed down Tuesday by the NBA against LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling. The NBA banned Sterling from the organization for life, and gave him a $2.5 million fine.
Like Many people, Magic Johnson uses Twitter to communicate through tweets. While in Saginaw he demanded new ownership for the Los Angeles Clippers. "We hope the Clipper's get a new owner whoever that's going to be."
Even though he's banned from the NBA for life, Donald Sterling still owns the Clippers unless Three-fourths of the team owners vote to force a sale. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver thinks that's what should happen. "I will urge the board of governors to force the sale of the team."
"I'm just happy commissioner Adam Silver came down hard and showed we can't let people get away with this even if you are a owner," said Johnson. "It's a great day. It's a great day for the United States, a great day for the NBA, a great day for all races especially Africa Americans and Latinos he was speaking out against.
Magic Johnson was in Saginaw Tuesday night to help raise money for the Saginaw Promise The program helps raise money so students in the Saginaw School System can afford a higher education.
