WZZM 13's Lauren Stanton gets help putting the Pajama Jeans for Men to the test in this Try It Before You Buy It report.
GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) A few years ago we did a Try It Before You Buy It on the original Pajama Jeans that were marketed toward women. We gave them mixed reviews, mostly because the pockets weren't very flattering, but overall they were comfortable and looked like real jeans.
Then the makers launched Pajama Jeans for Men. We wanted to see what men thought of them and if they could really get away with wearing them in public, not just for bed.
Morning radio hosts, Connie and Curtis on 95.7 FM in Grand Rapids, don't have to worry about what they wear since listeners can't see them on the radio, but they certainly don't just roll out of bed and come to work. Curtis says he's not fond of people wearing pajama pants to the grocery store or even to the mailbox, but with Pajama Jeans, maybe you could get away with it.
Pajama Jeans are not like "jeggings". They're not skinny jeans. They're more of a traditional boot cut. They come in small, medium, large and extra large, but they only come in one length, 32 inches. Curtis was worried about that since he normally wears a 34 inseam.
They seemed a little dark to Curtis, but I thought the color was fine and in fact, made them a little dressier. Curtis said they felt like sweatpants. They were soft and comfortable. The length actually fit Curtis perfectly, so we were lucky that they ran longer. There are front and back pockets that are real pockets, which Curtis liked.
Co-workers around the building all had pretty positive comments. Some thought the pockets weren't very stylish, and some didn't like the color, but overall, people said Curtis could get away with wearing these "pj's" in public.
We bought them online for $39.99 plus shipping.
