GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- The Griffins open a three-game weekend homestand Friday night and head coach Jeff Blashill is in a generous mood.

Blashill will be donating $100 of his own money for every goal the Griffs score Friday and Saturday to help fight Duchenne muscular dystrophy. It's a disease that's close to him; Western Michigan associate head coach Jim Facca's son Louie was diagnosed with it four years ago.

"Louie Facca is a really good friend of our whole family. Louie and my daughter Josie were in preschool. I hired Rob at Western Michigan and I know Louie and the whole Facca family is fighting Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy," Blashill told WZZM. "There's a cure in sight and we need to raise as much money as possible. I just want to be part of helping raise that awareness. I want to see nothing more than Louie beat this disease."

The Griffins will also wear decals Friday and Saturday: an emblem featuring the motto the Facca family lives by: "No bad days."
