(WZZM) - A Michigan state senate health policy committee has approved a bill that would add to mammography guildelines. If an exam shows a woman has dense breast tissue, the bill would require the exam report include information regarding breast density.

Specifically, it would have to warn the patient in writing that dense breast tissue can make it harder to find cancer through a mammogram and that it can increase the risk of breast cancer.

Three West Michigan state senators introduced the bill in March. It could pass the state senate by the first week in June. To learn more about the bill and follow its progress in Lansing, click here.
