PIERSON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM)-A person of interest is in custody in connection with a homicide at a Pierson Township home.

It happened in the 4000 block of Whitefish Woods Drive. Deputies were originally called to the home because of a disturbance. When they arrived, deputies discovered the body of a 31-year-old woman.

"She was very nice, waved hello, spoke nicely at Halloween and the times you had to see her. But she was more private," says neighbor Melissa Hopping. "It's not every day you think that you're going to wake up and have somebody killed across the street. It's a little too close to home for me."

Hopping says the victim had twin boys. It's not clear if they were in the home when she died.

The investigation is ongoing.
