MIDDLEVILLE, Mich. (WZZM) -- One special fifth grader at Page Elementary in Thornapple Kellogg received a special visit Wednesday morning.

Allison Wilbur came up with the idea of sending a care package to her uncle in Afghanistan, Equipment Operator First Class Jeffrey Wilbur. The package contained rubber-band bracelets, food, candy and games. Allison's mother says the whole project was Allison's idea two months ago.

Allison received a certificate from her school Wednesday morning in honor of her good deed. That's when her Uncle Jeffrey walked into the school cafeteria much to her surprise. Allison, who hadn't seen her uncle in two years said she nearly cried.

Once there, Uncle Jeffrey presented Allison with a flag that flew during a combat mission originating at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan. It is framed and Allison says she plans proudly display it on her television at home.
