WYOMING, Mich. (WZZM) -- Police are searching for a missing pregnant teenager who was last seen with a man later found dead.
18-year-old Brooke Anne Slocum of Saranac, was last seen Saturday evening, July 12, with Charles Oppenneer, 25, of Grand Rapids.
Wyoming officers discovered Oppenneer's body Wednesday afternoon in a wooded area behind Park Crest Apartments on Gezon Ct. SW. His death is being investigated as a homicide.
Investigators say Slocum is eight months pregnant and could be related to the case. She is described as Caucasian, with brown hair that was recently dyed teal-blue. She also has green eyes and weighs about 110 pounds.
Police Wednesday went door-to-door through an apartment complex, asking people if they heard anything early in the morning that might have been related to Oppenneer's death.
Investigators are specifically asking a man and woman in a white SUV who spoke to a public safety officer at a gas station Sunday morning to contact detectives at (616) 530-7300 or Silent Observer at (616) 774-2345.
Oppenneer had a criminal past, including domestic violence with a former girlfriend. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of domestic violence in March 2012. Family members tell WZZM the domestic violence involved a former girlfriend, with whom Oppenneer fathered two children, and not Slocum.
