OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. (WZZM) -- A new, two-mile trail will soon connect the Upper Macatawa Natural Area and the Fred Meijer Kenowa Trail in Ottawa County.
The Macatawa Greenway Trail will attach to an existing bike path on Adams Street and will feature a bridge crossing over the Macatawa River.
"This is going to go over ravines with three bridges. It is going to be scenic, and it is already a great site with wetlands and other features to see along the way," said John Scholtz, director of Ottawa County Parks. "We already have a half-mile trail here in this park now."
The project, worth nearly $2 million, is being funded by the Michigan Department of Transportation.
Construction on the rest of the trail should finish by the fall.
